Hello! I'm Greta Silver. Thank you for visiting my website!
I moved from Coral Springs to Coconut Creek in 1995. I love my house, my neighbors, and my community. I share my house with a husband who accuses me of talking to him whenever he’s out of ear-shot, and an African Gray parrot that talks so loudly every soul within a four mile radius can hear him. So, I have to repeat every word I say to my husband three times, and my parrot yells, “For Pete’s sake, I hear you.” As you can imagine, the atmosphere is very conducive for writing.
Writing is my therapy and problem solver. It helps me keep issues in perspective most of the time. It gives me the added empathy and sympathy for those going through bad times. It takes the emphasis off me and puts it on others, where it belongs. Writing is a constant teacher if you want it to be, and continues to give you those “aha” moments of insight about yourself and others. Writing is amazing. When a person approaches me and says, “Thank you for putting into words exactly how I feel,” that’s the payoff.
I was one of sixty-six freelancers who was chosen to contribute to Writers At Work, a Cassell Writing Success Guide. I co wrote the book Dogs Are People, Too with Louis L. Vine, D.V.M. I sold hundreds of Kvetch 22 humor columns locally and nationally, had several monthly feature and humor columns in local magazines and a humor column in a trade magazine. I sold some articles to Jewish newspapers, craft magazines and how-to publications. Quirky Short Stories is in print book form as well as Nook and Kindle. My next project will be back to kvetching, and will most likely include a bit about a sweet husband who denies having a hearing loss and a wife who talks with her head in the refrigerator.
